takanis bay arrived @ san pedro, california last voyage on 2 january 1946. moved puget sound in april, inactivation work begun, , decommissioned on 18 june. takanis bay reclassified cvu-89 on 12 june 1955 , struck naval vessel register on 1 august 1959. sold on 29 june 1960 hyman-michaels company, chicago, illinois, scrap , broken in portland, oregon.
