government policy

the government of indiana has taken variety of actions in order encourage solar energy use within state.


net metering

the state has net metering program allows installations of 1 mw of on-site electrical generation continuously roll on excess generation next month. participation limited 1% of utilities recent peak summer demand. peak summer demand state 2011 20,251 mw.


feed in tariff

indiana s northern indiana public service company, nipsco, offers feed-in tariff of $0.30/kwh systems 5 10 kw, , $0.26/kwh systems 10 kw 2 mw. indianapolis power & light has renewable energy production program pays $0.24/kwh solar 20 kw 100 kw , $0.20/kwh solar arrays of 100 kw 10 mw. payments 15 years, participation limited, , 1 third of program, 45,900 mwh/year, made available through reverse auction. no new applications accepted beyond march 2013.
