in 1960, department of defense transferred fort moultrie national park service. nps manages historic fort unit of fort sumter national monument. nps has interpreted fort tour backward in time defenses world war ii original palmetto log fort constructed william moultrie. preserved harbor entrance control post , bcn 520 (now private residence) main relics of world war ii era.


the national register of historic places listed fort moultrie quartermaster , support facilities historic district on september 6, 2007. in 2016, america beautiful quarter south carolina feature fort moultrie (fort sumter national monument).
