Ève denise curie born in paris, france on december 6, 1904. younger daughter of scientists marie , pierre curie, had daughter irène (born 1897). Ève virtually did not know father, died in 1906 in accident, run on horse cart. after accident, marie curie , daughters supported time paternal grandfather dr. eugène curie. when died in 1910, marie curie forced bring daughters herself of governesses. though Ève confessed later child had suffered lack of sufficient attention of mother , later, in teens, developed stronger emotional bond her, marie took great care education , development of interests of both daughters. whereas irène followed in mother s footsteps , became eminent scientist (she awarded nobel prize in chemistry husband frédéric joliot-curie in 1935), Ève showed more artistic , literary interests. child displayed particular talent music.

whatever weather, went on long walks , rode on bikes. went swimming in summer, , marie had gymnastics equipment installed in garden of house in sceaux, hauts-de-seine. Ève , irène learned sewing, gardening , cooking.

although girls french nationals (Ève later became american citizen), , first language french, familiar polish origin , spoke polish. in 1911 visited poland (the southern part, under austrian rule). during visit poland, rode horses , hiked in mountains.
