mccrindle born in glasgow, scotland. began acting career in 1937 starring in minor roles in uk television. 1946 1951 played role of jock anderson in dick barton – special agent. in 1951 starred in first film in usa, house in square. there acting career took off. did 5 more films: believe in (1952), kidnappers (1953), trouble in glen (1954), geordie (1955) , depth charge (1960). 1962 1974 went television acting. in 1976 cast general dodonna in first star wars film. went minor roles on tv, including role of eccentric veterinarian ewan ross on creatures great , small.
