the kingdom divided several provinces under sovereignty of soba, districts abu-salih described wide . arabic source 13th century sheds light on territorial organization of kingdom. apart of independent al abwab, following regions governed local regents mentioned: al-anag (thought fazughli), ari, barah, befal, danfou, kedru (thought identical kadero, village north of khartoum), kersa (the gezira) , taka (most identical modern al-takah in gash basin).
alodia might have had standing army, in horses played important role, able project military power , royal authority deep province. due speed horses important infrastructure, delivering messages capital provinces @ high speed. aside of horses, boats have played considerable role in alodian infrastructure well.
