white drafted miami dolphins 44th overall pick of 2009 nfl draft. after being drafted, dolphins general manager jeff ireland stated white in competition starting quarterback job chad pennington , chad henne, while being used in wildcat formation (effectively making spread), , receiver. on august 1, 2009 dolphins agreed terms white on four-year deal worth around $4.5 million. deal included $2.4 million in guaranteed money.


in opening preseason game against jaguars, white 2/7 passing 14 yards , 1 interception (after tipped receiver). had 6 rushing attempts 20 yards.


white s first big play set in shotgun formation in week 9 against new england patriots. play option white kept himself , rushed 33 yards before being stopped.

in game against pittsburgh steelers on january 3, 2010, pat white suffered helmet helmet collision ike taylor left him unconscious , carted off field.


white released hospital next day , drove himself dolphins training facility in davie, florida participated in team meetings prior team breaking 2010 off-season. in july 2010, ricky williams said pat white improved player on team.


white waived miami on september 4, 2010.
