construction of new station started in august 2008, completion scheduled september 2009. station opened on 4 december 2010 opening of tohoku shinkansen extension hachinohe shin-aomori.


initially named provisionally shichinohe station, name of new station announced on 29 july 2009, emphasize station s role gateway lake towada.
