there no visible improvement in situation, , after few months tgga presented formal complaint against cpr s sintaluta agent before warehouse commissioner. on 28 november commissioner looked case , started court proceedings. defendant found guilty given fine of cdn$50 plus costs, or 1 month in jail. cpr appealed decision lost in supreme court of north-west territories. after decision farmers found cpr making cars more readily available. account written in 1918 said,
at once newspapers on country full of it. oracles of bar-room , barber-shop nodded heads wisely; hadn t said cpr couldn t win against organized farmers, backed law of land? away east news magnified till became: farmers out west have licked cpr in court , threatening tear tracks!
the manitoba grain growers association (mgga) formed @ meeting on march 3–4 1903 in brandon, manitoba. in 1903 2 officers of mgga accompanied motherwell , j.b. gillespie of tgga ottawa met representatives of railways , grain companies tighten wording of manitoba grain act. new text introduced amendment act passed year.
with passage of amendments act tgga had achieved primary objective, , lost of momentum.
