a song in wilderness, one-woman show written larry gard , first performed in 1993, offers dramatic exploration of stratton-porter s life , experiences. 40-45 minute play written gard s wife, actress marcia quick gard, , financed indiana humanities council grant. play toured indiana each spring 1993 through 1997 , performed in numerous indiana towns. in march 2002 carpenter science theatre company produced production of play @ eureka theatre in richmond, virginia, directed gard , featuring quick in title role.


a spring 2017 performance of play had been scheduled in rhoda b. thalhimer theater @ science museum of virginia in richmond, virginia, quick died december 16, 2016. kerrigan sullivan, richmond-based actress, cast play role of stratton-porter. playwright gard, director jones, , actress sullivan dedicated subsequent performances quick s memory. play performed @ cat theater @ st. catherine s school girls in richmond , theaterlab, in richmond. in addition, play performed @ university of notre dame’s debartolo performing arts center in conjunction notre dame shakespeare festival , limberlost theatre company in 2017. friends of limberlost presented play in fort wayne, indiana, in 2017.
