upon activation on 1 may 1943, 1892nd engineer aviation battalion assigned 930th engineer aviation regiment @ gowen field, boise, idaho, second air force. later year battalion transferred 934th engineer aviation regiment coordination , supervision of organization , training. on 13 january 1944 unit relocated geiger field, spokane, washington temporary change of station, unit reassigned fourth air force additional training. after training 1892nd transferred camp anza near riverside, california 6 october 20 october staging. unit transferred san francisco port of embarkation on 21 october 1944 remained until leaving on uss latimer overseas deployment on 26 october.
