history
travis elementary history travis elementary completed in 1959 serve influx of baby boomer families pampa after world war ii. school named in honor of william barret travis, hero of battle of alamo during texas revolution. each march 6, schools flies flag of constitution of 1824 flag flown defenders in alamo. travis built 16 classrooms, cafeteria, gym, , administrative area. 6 additional classrooms , 2 restrooms added east wing approximately twenty-five years later. in 1997 areas remodeled , new wing thirteen classrooms added. new media center made 3 of old rooms, , administrative area enlarged create reception area, principal s office, nurse s office, secretary s office, records room, conference room, , 2 restrooms staff. modern twenty station computer lab developed use grades. today travis has approximately 370 students in grades kindergarten through fifth , staff of 50 full or part-time employees.

lamar elementary school built in 1953 when knox kinard superintendent of schools , h.r. thompson board of trustees president. building named mirabeau bonaparte lamar, texas hero known father of texas education. elementary school located @ 1234 s. nelson in pampa, tx. on southern borders of city. serves 430 children in pre-school through grade 5. elementary school in pampa district offers preschool program children disabilities, heat start classes, , pre-school classes. school has vital parent program includes parenting classes, esl , ged classes. parent liaison coordinates parent groups , school volunteers. building has gymnasium , cafeteria , 2 playground areas. campus has library of 10,000 volumes , family literacy center offers set of computers family , student use.

history
the 10 acres (40,000 m) purchased $2,000 on north edge of town in 1929 first used athletic purposes. school outgrew central campus, work progress administration work began on large high school building @ 111 e. harvester. later music , art addition east, field house, woodshop , homebound class building, music building, remodeling of library , girls gymnasium, athletic building, new tennis courts, stadium improvements, cinder track, area vocational building, , paved parking lot , baseball diamond have been added keep pace changing times. off price road area purchased f.f.a. livestock feeding facility.
campus structures named honor outstanding teachers or students include clifton mcneely field house named outstanding basketball coach led harvesters 4 state basketball championships during 1947-1960 term. matson track named pampa high’s olympic champion, randy matson. in 1984 livestock feedlots named in honor of bob skaggs.

the pampa high school football team featured on dateline nbc in 2006. every friday night, small town america shows spirit on fields harvester. story football—intensely , passionately played. story of family, friendship , faith.
pampa learning center
the pampa learning center school of choice students between ages of 16 21. student apply attend small self-paced school. student body composed of students have dropped out of school or @ risk of becoming dropouts. many either teen parents or parents. offer basic high school curriculum , excellent teen parenting program day care available. offer ged pre program qualified students.
