the lower slopes of hill formed mudstones of st maughans formation whilst upper slopes formed sandstones , mudstones of senni beds formation, both of old red sandstone laid down during devonian period. thin calcrete known ffynnon limestone occurs @ junction of 2 formations in places. calcrete , sandstone have been quarried in various places on years.
