International Day of Sport for Development and Peace Peace and Sport

at un headquarters in new york, on 23 august 2013, un general assembly declared 6 april international day of sport development , peace (idsdp) – decision represented historic step in recognizing transformative power of sport , great potential in advancing positive social change.


this day commemorated globally each year international, regional, national sport , development organizations honour role sport plays in society, whether encouraging healthier lifestyles, making sport more accessible or using vehicle development in areas made vulnerable conflict, poverty , inequality.


peace , sport has developed web platform expression , promotion aimed @ highlighting initiatives led celebrate 6 april.


in 3 editions, peace , sport , platform has promoted 840 projects in on 170 countries.

#whitecard operation highlights actors of peace through sport movement, , provide opportunity believe in power of sport change world, rally support around symbolic gesture.


everyone can involved easily: participants have take selfie or group photo holding white card, referee on playing field. post #whitecard photo on facebook, twitter or instagram.
