gameplay

istaria uses race/class/level paradigm common many role-playing games, similar mechanics other massively multiplayer online games. goal join forces of gifted other players against evil hordes of undead, withered aegis , build communities, repair broken structures, , solve quests. unlike other mmorpgs, players not fight each other in player versus player (pvp) battles, work in player versus environment (pve) battles. fight in pvp battles, 1 have travel designated pvp area, isle of battles.


classes

there eleven playable races in istaria. these include dragons, in addition more biped classes of human, elf, dwarf, gnome, half-giant dryad, satyr, fiend, saris (a cat-like anthropomorphic humanoid), , sslik (an asexual non-anthropomorphic reptilian humanoid).


biped classes

there 28 adventures , 20 trade schools biped can choose from. biped classes have special ability able learn amount of trade schools. 1 trade , adventure school can active @ time. each adventure school adds master-able abilities character, can used in other adventure schools, adding additional powers character. these abilities can changed between schools, have own disadvantages well. adventure schools split healer, mage , warrior paths, hybrid paths.


dragons

dragons have 1 adventure school , 3 trade schools. in sense, different bipeds. dragon starts flightless hatchling, on course of game grow adult dragon able fly. in series of quests, dragons become older, reaching point of ancient dragon, adds more abilities. during quest adulthood, dragons need decide between 2 different factions, called helian , lunus. helians prefer use magic in combat, , more friendly bipeds. lunus prefer use melee attacks during fights , less friendly bipeds. dragons able fly in istaria.


trading , crafting

the tradeskill system of high grade of complexity. 3 dragon trade schools used build lairs, scales, spells , crystals. biped trade school splits in schools produce usable items, clothes, armor, weapons, jewelry, scrolls, potions, food, tools, spells. biped trade schools build structures houses, guild houses, walls, workshops, silos, , consignors. there 150 different resources can gathered ore, wood, plants , animals. @ higher levels, higher tiered resources able gathered. example, copper , tin available @ tier i, iron available @ tier ii, steel available @ tier iii, cobalt @ tier iv, mithril @ tier v , adamantium @ tier vi. resources refined using tools , machines, , crafted final products. during assembly of final products, players can change color , improve various qualities , attributes. these production techniques , formulas need collected , bought on time. craft-able equipment important player, , unlike other mmorpgs, trade skills play smaller role. there on 2000 formulas , techniques can collected , stored.
