born in newham, london, poku educated @ nearby redbridge college under guidance of andy russell. in february 2009, offered scholarship fort lewis college in colorado, united states, having impressed scouts @ invitational football tournament @ preston college in phoenix, arizona previous year. poku chose turn down offer, instead preferring pursue full-time career in english football, , joined conference south side st albans city beginning of 2009–10 season. made st albans debut on 19 september 2009 against weymouth. played in 14 further games st albans, scoring 25-yard goal in return fixture against weymouth. during time @ club, poku had trials football league clubs reading, leyton orient , southend united.


luton town

on 5 january 2010 poku signed on free transfer conference premier club luton town, along fellow st albans player jj o’donnell. poku highly rated st albans manager steve castle, pleaded him stay @ club, , had been attracting interest championship side swansea city. on 30 january, poku , o’donnell loaned st albans 1 month. made 6 further appearances saints before returning kenilworth road.


poku made luton debut next season on 2 october 2010 in league match away @ barrow, coming on substitute, after making bench because adam newton picked injury during warm-up. mike simmonds of luton today reported after match poku in particular highly impressive during brief spell on pitch, breaking barrow attacks , grew game, showing eye pass too. speaking after poku s professional debut, luton s then-manager richard money said, gave team lift in crucial 15 20 minutes. pleased debut.

on 22 october 2013, poku made mansfield town debut in 0–0 draw bury, in replaced martin riley in 74th minute. on 26 november 2013, poku given start mansfield town in 1–0 defeat burton albion, in played full 90 minutes.


on 3 january 2014, poku joined conference premier side alfreton town on loan until end of season. on 7 january 2014, poku made alfreton town debut in 4–1 defeat lincoln city, in played full 90 minutes.


on 9 may 2014, announced poku mansfield town along 9 other players @ end of contracts on 30 june 2014.


afc telford united

on 1 august 2014, poku joined conference premier side afc telford united on one-year deal. 8 days later, poku made afc telford united debut in 1–1 draw welling united, in played 48 minutes before being sent off second bookable offence. poku went on make 36 starts , receiving 2 substitute appearances before leaving @ end of campaign.


woking

on 23 may 2015, poku joined national league side woking on one-year deal. on 11 august 2015, poku made woking debut in 2–0 victory on bromley, in replaced giuseppe sole eleven minutes remaining. on 12 september 2015, poku given first woking start in 4–4 draw guiseley, in played full 90 minutes.


on 10 november 2015, after struggling make impression in woking side, poku joined national league south side havant & waterlooville on one-month loan. on same day, poku made havant & waterlooville debut in 3–1 victory on oxford city, in scored three. on 14 november 2015, poku continued goalscoring form in 3–1 victory against maidenhead united, in netted equalizer havant & waterlooville after jake reid put visitors ahead. poku returned woking @ end of month after scoring 4 times in 5 games.


oxford city

on 26 june 2016, poku joined national league south side oxford city on one-year deal after leaving woking. on 6 august 2016, poku made oxford city debut in 2–1 victory on welling united, playing full 90 minutes. on 19 november 2016, poku scored first goal oxford in 5–0 away victory against margate, netting opener in 40th minute. after winning oxford s player of season award, poku signed new one-year deal on 30 may 2017.
