mini school program

prince of wales mini school seeks co-operative, creative, self-motivated , well-rounded students have demonstrated above average academic achievement , involvement in school , community. school aims develop organizational skills, problem-solving techniques, , ability work cooperatively , independently in academically challenging, enriched program requiring effort , self-discipline. outdoor education component provides physical , emotional challenges, developing skills , contributing school community atmosphere. students develop leadership skills through running school events , fund raising.


trek outdoor education program

the trek program offered grade 10 students schools throughout vancouver school district interest in outdoor activities , environmental education.


the program admits 112 students each year, separated 2 terms. 1 term finishes of regular grade 10 academic curriculum while other participates in outdoor activities, including both overnight , day trips teach basic outdoor skills, minimum impact camping, hiking , backpacking, ocean kayaking, canoeing, rock climbing, back-country (telemark) skiing, cross-country (nordic) skiing, snow shelter building & winter camping, avalanche awareness, cycle touring, outdoor cooking, , map & compass navigation, , in-class focus on sustainability , environment. terms switch halfway through year.


gold program

the gifted on learning disabled (gold) program district program designed gifted students have been identified having learning disability. acceptance rate low average of 8 students per year. students in program have @ least 1 gold block part of regular timetable gold english being offered @ grade 8 level. curriculum of program includes communication skills, decision making, subject , personal support, self-awareness , self-advocacy.
