chang-ao (長襖) - formal wear women


chang-ao (chinese: 長襖) traditional chinese attire women. form of formal wear, , perceived longer version of ruqun. however, developed zhiduo during ming dynasty, , worn on skirt. wide-sleeved, shorter zhiduo , has no side panels (暗擺) @ side slits (thus showing skirt worn underneath). there optional detachable protective huling (護領, lit. protect collar ) sewn collar. huling can of white or other dark colours. collar of same colour clothing.
