this pbs game show designed children ages 8–12. world game show staged in off-skew detective office, part of acme agency lynne thigpen portraying chief , greg lee portraying himself special agent in charge of training new recruits. greg helped in training various live-action , animated characters. among show s popular members of cappella house band , comedy troupe, rockapella, sang show s main theme song.


the game played in 3 rounds: first round q&a, 2 gumshoes highest scores proceeded second round. in second round, 2 remaining gumshoes had find loot, warrant, , cartoon crook in correct order. winning gumshoe captured day s crook , later advanced third , final round capture carmen. greg shouted names or places in region of world, gumshoe had place marker on corresponding place on giant map of area within 45-second time limit. successful gumshoe placed correct locations , captured carmen win trip anywhere in contiguous united states , later in north america.

the time game show refocused show on history, otherwise similar world thigpen reprising role chief . kevin shinick portrayed himself time pilot squadron leader , rockapella replaced different dance group, engine crew. third , final round of game involved pilot answering 6 various history-related questions open time gates. if pilot answered correctly, he/she passed through gate. otherwise, pilot had turn crank, pull lever, or other task within 90-second time limit. successful pilot passed through 6 gates , captured carmen win personal computer.

the earth animated series saturday morning cartoon series produced dic entertainment. series features adventures of zack , ivy, 2 teenage siblings worked acme agents in san francisco , aided max headroom-like chief, had stop carmen (voiced rita moreno) , henchmen stealing artifacts around world. series first saturday-morning children s program ever win best animated program emmy in 1996. episodes have subsequently been repeated on fox family channel, pax network, hub tv, , univision. first season released on dvd shout! factory in 2006 , complete series later released mill creek entertainment in 2012.
