1986 1993 - non-partisan association returned vancouver city hall, former realtor , businessman gordon campbell mayor. npa worked more closely developers, passing series of pro-development by-laws. many seniors , poor renters evicted properties throughout city, including gastown.
1994 - lease expired on pacific national exhibition grounds @ hastings park. extensions granted vancouver city council. final year exhibition 1997, 100 years after started operating in hastings park.
2002 - millennium line of skytrain opened, providing new rapid transit service through east vancouver.
2004 - provincial government transferred authority pne city of vancouver. consultation process initiated determine new future pne in hastings park.
