at end of season, townsend signed one-year professional contract birmingham city, option of further year. fractured hand kept him out of 2013–14 pre-season friendlies, given squad number , place on bench league cup second-round match @ yeovil town in late august after darren randolph sustained broken nose , gashed hand during previous match.
