the basic rock configuration consists of 12 , 13 hanging toms, , 16 floor tom
the basic fusion configuration refers set-up has 10 , 12 , 14 diameter toms, opposed standard rock configuration 12 , 13 , 16 . note these terms not imply drum depths, example, 14 in fusion setup have depth 10, 11, 12, or 14×14 floor tom. these terms fusion , rock marketing terms invented drum manufacturing companies, , there not absolute definition them; more case of accepted norm.

in 50s , 60s, common have single hanging tom (a 13 ) , single floor tom (16 ).

the standard depth rack toms popular in 1950-1980s 12×8 , 13×9. classic configuration still popular among many players.
fast sizes 10×8, 12×9, 13×10, etc. dw use marketing term fast these sizes, not unique dw, , popular sizes drum manufacturers.
new standard - 10×9, 12×10, 13×11, etc. i. e. new standard sizes 2 deeper considered standard in 50s. however, despite term, these becoming less standard in favour of fast sizes.
power toms 1 inch deeper standard, standard sizes 10×9 or 10×10, 12×11, 13×12. depth overtook classic setup in popularity during 1980s.
square - 10×10, 12×12, 13×13, etc. popular in 80s , 90s no longer popular.
hyperdrive - shallow depths made popular tama: 10×6.5, 12×7, 13×7.5, etc.
