on january 24, 2011, ktvl added additional hour morning news program. originally, news 10 @ 6 a.m. changed start time 4:55 a.m. dubbing news 10 morning going head-to-head competitor kdrv s morning newscast. show switched format, differing competitors include faster-paced headline style news more morning weather hits other station in southern oregon , northern california. in addition showcasing station s strong social media content, station have smart phone , ipad applications.


jerry lewis mda telethon (1970-2010)/mda labor day telethon (2011)

ktvl southern oregon , northern california television station has continuously broadcast jerry lewis mda telethon, benefiting muscular dystrophy association every labor day weekend 1970 2011. (fellow cbs affiliate khsl-tv in chico, california, next closest station before broadcasting program ceased after 1997 new ownership.) local portion of telethon hosted marvin rhodes, main host 35 years, , donna hildebrand, co-host on 25 years, until ended tenure main telethon hosts in 2005. members of news 10 newscast team including trish (borucki) glose, kevin lollis , libby dowsett had hosted telethon @ various times until format dissolved mda in 2012. believed have been 1 of successful local telethon broadcasts in country.


the emotional moment came in 2002 when devastated marvin rhodes announced grants pass, oregon resident ray dimmick, battled courageously against als (lou gehrig s disease), had died in december 2001. dimmick, accompanied wife debra, appeared on show every year 10 years despite condition deteriorating. tribute video broadcast in memory.


with jerry lewis s retirement host of national telethon , move 21 1/2 hours 6 hours in 2011, ktvl did air telethon usual. on february 10, 2012, mda announced 2012 edition cut 3 hours in length airing during primetime on sunday, september 2, 2012. 2012 edition, renamed mda show of strength (moving away heritage telethon), ended ktvl s 41 years of telethon coverage. special since picked abc 2 years in 2013 , 2014, before being cancelled altogether mda in 2015.

on june 3, 2006, ktvl launched new locally produced late night program young adults called after 10, hosted curtis bartlett , lindsey matherly, every saturday night @ 11:30pm. dubbed locally produced show delivers news , information on local music scene, video games, movie releases (in theaters , on video), graphic novels, music videos, viral videos internet, , websites.


after 10 ktvl s attempt compete against nbc s saturday night live producing program target audience themselves, instead on relying on syndication. after 10 being retooled , expected relaunched in third quarter of 2007, never returned air.


after various syndicated programs , infomercials aired in 11:30pm slot, slot became home of weekly ring of honor wrestling show in april 2012 upon acquisition of station sinclair, owns roh circuit.
