paul hurricane briggs career began kick boxing @ young age, turning professional age of 15. age of 17, briggs accomplished enough challenge thai kick boxer, jomhod sor chid lata, world kickboxing association (wka) title. briggs spent next 2 years training in thailand man defeated him. training propelled briggs wka world championship.

briggs tired of international kickboxing competition. quit competing , began working dj.

in november 1999, paul briggs began boxing. on course of 5 years, briggs compiled 23-1 (17 ko s) record, leading wbc no. 1 rating , wbc light heavyweight world championship fight against tomasz adamek, @ time, had 28 wins , no losses.

first fight adamek

on 21 may 2005 in chicago briggs lost adamek in majority decision. fight described 1 of brutal in recent memory, briggs suffered large cut above left eye in fight , adamek bled profusely nose of fight, well. adamek tended aggressor, though briggs displayed excellent defence flashes of power that, @ times, staggered adamek. both fighters won subsequent tune-up fights , contracted rematch.

the rematch took place on 6 october 2006. adamek came in heavy favourite. briggs coming in new trainer, johnny lewis. rematch same first fight, action packed , entertaining. briggs seemed getting outboxed in first round until unleashed heavy left hook adamek s jaw dropped champion. adamek managed , continue , survived round. again briggs cut in second round. appeared punch , appeared in bad spot: on left eye. johnny lewis managed stop bleeding of fight , cut not major factor. briggs showed more aggression time around , made close fight. case have been made either fighter winning. in end came down majority decision adamek won yet again. many watched fight have stated although adamek seemed busier of two, punches ineffective , landed on arms , gloves of briggs.

after second loss adamek, briggs decided against third match, stating wanted go new opponents:

retirement

return ring

on 21 july 2010, briggs returned ring in perth take on danny green ibo cruiserweight title. before bout green labelled briggs unprofessional after latter weighed in 4 kg on agreed-upon weight. ensuing fight seen farce , briggs collapsing after 29 seconds following innocuous left jab green, second in fight, appears have @ brushed top of briggs head. briggs subsequently booed out of stadium irate fans, , had protected management projected missiles being thrown @ him. in post-bout interview green apologised fans had paid attend. online bookmaker centrebet labelled bout highly, highly dubious following massive betting plunge shortly before fight. fight had been due held in sydney moved @ last minute after new south wales combat sports authority refused commission bout claiming briggs unfit fight.
