there 3 types of birds around troll: antarctic petrel, snow petrel , south polar skua. antarctic petrel lives on sea ice of year, exception of breeding season (in antarctica, november february), when moves inland mountains , nunataks. 3.9-square-kilometre (1.5 sq mi) area of ice-free cliffs in princess astrid coast called svarthamaren mountain hosts antarctica s largest known inland colony of breeding seabirds, 1 million (250,000 pairs) antarctic petrels. many snow petrels , south polar skuas breed in area. snow petrels spread out in smaller colonies throughout mountainous areas of queen maud land. during breeding season, south polar skua feeds exclusively upon eggs, both young , adult birds, of both petrel species.


the emperor penguin has of breeding places concentrated in queen maud land. 4 of true antarctic seals, namely weddell seal, leopard seal, crabeater seal , ross seal, can found in king haakon vii sea off queen maud land. ross seal notably found in greatest numbers in king haakon vii sea.


the nunatak areas have scarcity of flora, limited lichen, bryophyte , algae. flowering plants not found there. norwegian polar institute has not registered occurrence of threatened or rare plants or animals in queen maud land, known ones existing in healthy populations.
