for years stompé considered second best dutch darts player behind raymond van barneveld. after reaching semi-finals of 2000 bdo world darts championship, dropped behind younger emerging dutch group of players.

stompé came fame defeat of reigning bdo champion jelle klaasen in first round of 2007 bdo world darts championship.

towards end of bdo career, stompé acted darts commentator dutch commercial television station sbs6.

on 11 june 2008 announced stompé had joined professional darts corporation circuit, , had join pdc rankings @ 227. made pdc debut in 2 pdpa players championship tournaments in bristol. first tournament started bye last 64, due van barneveld not taking part. lost matt clark. next day saw him beat tony ayres , peter manley before losing in last 32 stage kirk shepherd.

stompé won 2008 pdc german darts championship, beating phil taylor 4–2 in final. both players averaged in excess of 100; stompé averaged 107.28, while taylor averaged 108.09. win earned him spot in 2009 grand slam of darts , earned him place in 2009 pdc world darts championship qualifying through continental europe order of merit. qualified through dutch broadcaster sbs6 s wildcard place went remco van eijden result. defeated 2007 semi-finalist andy jenkins in first round. defeated alan tabern, ninth seed in second round , impressive form in championship continued 4–0 win on eighth seed wayne mardle in third round. win set quarter final encounter taylor, losing 5–0.

stompé qualified desert classic second successive year. defeated colin osborne in first round lost in round 2 raymond van barneveld. suffered first round losses in world matchplay adrian lewis , in european championship gary anderson , went out @ group stage of grand slam of darts. defence of german darts championship ended in last 32 loss ronnie baxter.

at 2010 pdc world darts championship, stompé defeated steve maish, mervyn king , mark dudbridge reach quarter finals once more defeated mark webster. reached quarter finals of 2010 world matchplay, defeating andy hamilton , mark webster before losing raymond van barneveld.

on 18 october year, stompé broke pdc top 16 first time, dropping out 3 weeks later. in december, partnered van barneveld in netherlands team won inaugural pdc world cup of darts. later month, stompé knocked out of 2011 world darts championship in first round, losing 1–3 peter wright. stompé comfortably beat michael smith 3–0 in first round of 2012 world championship. bitten andy fordham on christmas period , couldn t replicate form showed days earlier lost 1–4 in second round terry jenkins, hitting 28% of doubles. 2012 proved disappointing year stompé not reach single quarter-final out of 25 tournaments played, best finishes being last 16 defeats in pro tour events.

stompé dropped out of top 900 during 2012, qualified 2013 world championship finishing fifth on european order of merit, taking first of 4 spots non-qualified players. lost 0–3 paul nicholson in first round. after tournament world ranked number 40. stompé lost 5–4 michael mansell in second round of uk open. played in 4 more events during rest of year final pdc tournament coming in september. disqualified tournament after attempting play match using teeth.

stompe returned bdo in 2014. made return high-profile televised bdo tournaments @ zuiderduin masters.
