Site locations Sesklo and Dimini fortifications

the sesklo settlement consists of 3 main phases. in general, there close houses centered around larger megaron paved courtyard. settlement had unusually thick wall on east side, middle late settlements of greater interest when considering neolithic fortifications. sesklo’s stone walls enclosed parts of acropolis , approximately 1 meter in width. there possibility capped structures create taller barrier, uncertain.

dimini

the dimini settlement approximately 5000 square meters , included megaron in oval courtyard smaller buildings , houses outside of fortifications. site flourished during late neolithic period , used many of same construction methods employed earlier @ sesklo, including stone walls. dimini fortifications composed of 6 or 7 concentric circle walls 2-3 meters tall , close 1 meter apart. made taller mud brick or wooden palisades.
