dewsbury had relatively successful time during war years. managed eddie waring, , side boosted inclusion of number of big-name guest players, club won wartime emergency league in 1941–42 , again following season 1942–43 (though championship declared null , void when discovered had played ineligible player). runners-up in championship in 1943–44, challenge cup winners in 1942–43 , yorkshire cup final appearances in season 1940–41 , winners in 1942–43.
