adam heller born in 1933 jewish parents in romanian city of cluj (now cluj-napoca). in 1944, following second vienna award, hungarian administration confiscated family s property, , forcibly relocated along more 18,000 other jews kolozsvár ghetto within walls of iris brickyard. in late may of same year, prisoners of ghetto @ kolozsvár transported out of ghetto part of nazi final solution. heller , immediate family survived on kastner s train. in 1945, arrived in british mandate palestine, became state of israel in 1948.

heller received m.sc. , ph.d. hebrew university in 1961, studied under ernst david bergmann. after post-doctoral research @ university of california, berkeley (1962–1963) , @ bell laboratories in murray hill, new jersey (1963–1964), worked @ gte laboratories in bayside, new york , in waltham, massachusetts (1964–1975), returned bell laboratories (1975–1988), heading electronic materials research department (1977–1988). under stewardship, team led king l. tai, developed key parts of high speed, high density chip-to-chip interconnect technology of mobile electronic systems.
