the result of trip hudson river pulp & paper company started making groundwood , newsprint in 1869 @ palmer (corinth), new york, near luzerne.


following acquisition international paper company in 1898, hudson river facility became firm s flagship mill , site of principal office. pagenstecher served on international paper s board of directors.


after world war ii, hudson river millworkers developed , perfected production of coated papers international paper. in november 2002, shifting economic forces resulted in mill s closure; 9 years later, in 2011, slated demolition.


finch paper llc (finch, pruyn company) american paper manufacturing corporation, operating in glens falls, new york, 150 years.


in mechanicville, new york, westvaco corporation s meadwestvaco 6 paper machines ran non-stop feed printing presses of nation’s leading publishers. after wwii westvaco plant largest book-paper mill in world. closed in 1971.
