the anterior grey column, directed forward, broad , of rounded or quadrangular shape. posterior part termed base, , anterior part head, these not differentiated each other well-defined constriction. separated surface of medulla spinalis layer of white substance traversed bundles of anterior nerve roots. in thoracic region, postero-lateral part of anterior column projects laterally triangular field, named lateral grey column.
