new england patriots

spikes drafted new england patriots in second round (62nd overall) of 2010 nfl draft. signed four-year contract on july 26, 2010. spikes became starter @ inside linebacker in patriots 3–4 defense, alongside jerod mayo. against baltimore in week 6 of rookie season, spikes recorded 16 tackles in overtime patriots win. spikes recorded first career interception in week 13 win on new york jets on monday night football.


on december 10, 2010, prior patriots week 14 game against chicago bears, spikes suspended 4 games (the remainder of 2010 regular season) violation of nfl s banned substances policy, reportedly ingredient in spikes adhd medication. same day, spikes released following statement:



he finished rookie season 61 tackles, 1 interception, , 3 passes defensed. season shortened suspension, played in 12 games, starting eight.


on november 16, 2012, spikes fined $25,000 late hit against buffalo bills in week 10.

on may 18, 2015, spikes agreed one-year contract return patriots. on june 8, 2015, spikes released due police investigation dealing abandoned car belonging spikes, possibly involved in hit-and-run. massachusetts state police cited brandon spikes on june 12, 2015 leaving scene of accident injury, driving negligently, , failing stay within marked lanes.
