temperatures @ halley rise above 0 °c although temperatures around -10 °c common on sunny summer days. typical winter temperatures below -20 °c extreme lows of around -55 °c.



winds predominantly east; strong winds picking dusty surface snow reducing visibility few metres.


one of reasons location of halley is under auroral oval, making ideally located geospace research , resulting in frequent displays of aurora australis overhead. these easiest see during 105 days (29 apr - 13 aug) when sun not rise above horizon.
