in guangzhou, teams traveled canton tower , rode ferris wheel search next clue.

at start of race, teams had find 1 of several ucla bruin marching band members chinese symbols guangzhou (广州) on shako s badge (matching badges displayed on shakos of band conductors), , bring band member starting line confirmed host phil keoghan. once team brought band member correct shako, keoghan gave them set of tickets 1 of 2 flights guangzhou.
before leaving los angeles international airport, teams had park ford fusion energi hybrid cars used drive airport in recharging station.
on arrival in guangzhou, teams went wedding boutique district on jiangnan avenue north, , searched 1 of 3 boutiques had next clue. each store had limited number of clues, forcing teams travel others if ran out.
the clue bridal shops directed teams find building bubbles on top , giving them replica bubble , leaving them figure out referred canton tower.
at canton tower, teams had select 1 of bubble cars of ferris wheel located @ top of tower , search clue, revealed when door car closed, forcing teams wait car make full trip around building (about 30 minutes) before allowed exit , proceed. depending on car entered, clue either informed teams try again in car or directed them next location: haixinsha stadium below tower.

leg 2 (china)

teams ended second leg in guangzhou @ shamian island, island hosts several colonial european buildings.

this leg s roadblock required 1 team member assemble child s motorized car provided kit. once car assembled , operational toy soldier judge s approval, give out next clue.

this leg s detour choice between featherball , china cup. in featherball, team played jianzi (a game similar hackeysack uses shuttlecock) 2 local players. once teammates volleyed shuttlecock combined 10 times (volleys between local players not counted), received next clue. if @ time shuttlecock fell ground, teams have start over. in china cup, each team member received traditional massage involving cupping therapy, , receive next clue after massage completed.

after arriving @ chen clan academy, teams had watch demonstration of martial arts students. @ end of demonstration, master approach teammates , stamp name of next destination on both of foreheads.

the detour choice between river delivery , run through jungle. before detour, teams had build bamboo raft used travel down river, through rapids, detour choice. in river delivery, teams had pick several goods depot @ beginning of task , carry them down river on raft town of kampung tombung, delivering goods village elder. in run through jungle, teams joined murut hunting guide lead them through jungle several fake bird targets. using blowgun, racers had each knock on 1 bird target before being allowed continue. after completing either detour, teams directed return rafts , continue down river, receiving next clue local river guide.

the 2 detour options mix master , master mix. in mix master, team trained on how scratch on dj table coach, , had perform in front of dj , crowd, receiving next clue if able replicate series of 7 record scratches dj s approval. if did not perform djing properly, had allow other teams in line perform before allowed try again. in master mix, teams had stack 7 cocktail glasses pyramid, , use stack of mixing glasses pour different colored cocktails each glass simultaneously. had done in such way none of cocktails mixed. once successful, team next clue.

in leg s roadblock, 1 team member had pick color badge in gas station s office , search along line of parked tuk-tuks 4 had same color marker on windshields. had lead tuk-tuks gas station fill tanks 3 litres (0.79 us gal). once 4 tuk-tuks had full tanks, given next clue.

the speed bump required caroline , jennifer head pantheon picked antique olivetti typewriter. had search building resembled, altare della patria locals call typewriter , before continue. detour choice between gladiator , charioteer; both detours, teams dressed in ancient roman costume. in gladiator, teams learned series of sword maneuvers battle seasoned gladiator, receive next clue. if teams strayed battle sequence taught, had start over. in charioteer, teams raced around track using radio-controlled chariot, 1 team member controlling speed , other controlling direction. once teams completed 5 laps within 1 minute , thirty seconds, indicated fire going out, given next clue.

in roadblock, 1 team member rode on 1 of pontcysyllte aqueduct s canal boats , worked welsh language instructor learn verse of welsh poem y sipsi! . after 15-minute boat ride other side of aqueduct complete, team member disembarked boat , recited poem memory waiting linguist. if team member recite poem perfectly, linguist award them next clue.

the detour choice between shoot , boot it. in shoot it, teams participated in clay pigeon shooting using 12-gauge shotgun. once hit total of 16 clay pigeons, given next clue. in boot it, teams participated in boot throwing. after searching through pile of wellington boots find pair of either size-9 or size-11 boots, teams filled them water , threw them along course until reached finish line. @ end of course, wellie official confirm teams had found correct-sized boots , give them next clue.

during pit stop, teams moved carden park luxury hotel in chester start leg, , had travel las vegas, nevada, final city. in first roadblock of leg, 1 team member participated in illusion magician david copperfield. after opening box dug desert, retrieving keys inside, team member performing roadblock shackled inside of box , once box closed, partner hand on keys through hole in box. copperfield escorted teammate sitting out roadblock television monitor watch partner attempt challenge. after team member inside box found right key , unlocked shackles, had retrieve lockpicks top of box, after box lifted off of ground , lit on fire. once racer in box said complete, partner, under copperfield s instruction, set off series of switches dropped box burning pile of wood , set off fiery explosion. copperfield informed partner have fire department s assistance, , racer in box appear wearing firefighter uniform, unharmed. copperfield give them next clue, after bit of sleight of hand.

the final roadblock of race team member sat out first roadblock had in helicopter, wearing special futuristic jumpsuit, , search las vegas strip sign (at aria resort , casino) told them name of drop zone , location of finish line: las vegas motor speedway. after informing pilot, did tandem 10,000-foot (3,000 m) freefall onto race track s infield, spewing fireworks along way, , joined partner before crossing finish line.
