yale-nus s student life modelled on residential colleges of yale. there 3 residential colleges named saga, elm , cendana, although there plans build fourth. each has own dining hall, courtyard, student suites, sky-gardens, faculty residences, study-spaces, intramural teams, , butteries, informal student-run eateries yale tradition. students live in suites of 6 single rooms. these small-scale communities arranged vertically in residential towers, contain both student suites , faculty apartments. floors grouped neighborhoods, each own skygarden, landscaped outdoor space high-rise buildings pioneered in singapore.


the residential community includes rector (equivalent position of college master @ yale), vice rector, faculty fellows, advisors, rector s aides, , distinguished visiting fellows. students expand social , leadership skills while enjoying support of nested academic communities.

kyle farley, formerly dean of jonathan edwards college @ yale, served first dean of students of college. brian mcadoo, geologist , expert in environment studies, formerly of vassar college, served inaugural rector , rector of elm college, while eduardo lage-otero, formerly of trinity college, named inaugural vice-rector , later served vice-rector of saga college.


the current dean of students christopher bridges, formerly vice president of student affairs , enrollment management @ mansfield university of pennsylvania.


as first freshmen transitioned collegiate living experience, aided dean s fellows , group of recent college graduates picked various higher educational backgrounds, including amherst, carleton, princeton, reed, mt. holyoke, yale, , nus. of 2017, dean s fellow role has shifted, residential functions being performed upper-class students.

in 2017, yale-nus had 54 student organisations recognised dean of students office.


the college has number of student newspapers, magazines , journals. publications include octant, yale-nus s established publication, mocktant, satirical counterpart, tònes, multilingual magazine, , yale-nus society academic research, publishes academic journals. while not recognised student organisation, fox , hedgehog, current , global affairs review, founded yale-nus students.
